Privacy Policy

BigDot Wallet – mobile application
Last updated: 31 July 2026

This policy explains how Manik IT & Infrastructure Services Private Limited (“we”, “us”) handles personal data in the BigDot Wallet mobile application. It covers the app specifically; our website is covered separately.

1. Who we are

Manik IT & Infrastructure Services Private Limited. For any privacy question or request, contact support@bigdot.ai.

2. What we collect, and why

a. Information you give us when you sign in

To create your wallet we collect your name, country and preferred language, and either your mobile number or email address. We send a one-time code to that number or address to confirm it is you. We do not use passwords.

Why: to create and secure your account. Without it the app cannot function.

b. Your business card details

Whatever you put on your own card: name, job title, company, phone, email, website, address, and a profile photograph if you add one.

Why: to build the card, render it, and share it with people you choose.

c. Photographs of business cards you scan

When you scan a card, the app takes a photograph using your camera, or uses an image you pick from your photo library. That image is uploaded to our servers, where it is processed automatically to read the printed text and turn it into contact fields. Before upload the image is resized to at most 1600 pixels, compressed, and its EXIF metadata (including any location tags your camera may have recorded) is removed.

The details read from the card – name, company, job title, phone, email, website, address – are stored in your contacts.

Why: this is the core scanning feature.

d. Device and technical information

A device identifier, device brand, model, and operating-system version.

Why: to keep your session valid, support the app, and diagnose faults.

e. Diagnostics and usage

We use Google Firebase Crashlytics to receive crash reports, and Google Firebase Analytics, which records basic usage events such as app opens and screens viewed.

Why: to find and fix crashes and understand which features are used.

3. What we do NOT collect

We want to be specific, because these are common assumptions:

  • We do not read your phone’s address book. The app has no access to your device contacts. Every contact in BigDot Wallet is one you scanned or typed in yourself.
  • We do not collect your location. The app requests no location permission and uses no GPS.
  • We do not use advertising identifiers, ad networks, or tracking across other companies’ apps and websites. We do not show ads.
  • We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it with data brokers.
  • We do not process payments in the app and therefore hold no card or bank details.

4. Permissions the app asks for

Permission Used for If you decline
Camera Photographing business cards to scan them You can still add contacts by choosing an image or typing details
Photo library Choosing an existing card image or profile photo You can still use the camera or type details

5. Who your data is shared with

  • Our hosting and application servers operated for us on the manikworks.com domains.
  • Google Firebase (Crashlytics, Analytics) – crash and usage data.
  • People you choose. When you share your card by QR code, link, SMS or email, its contents go to that recipient. A shared card link may be openable by anyone who has it.
  • Authorities, where we are legally required to disclose.

6. Storage and security

Data is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections. Your cards and contacts are also cached on your device so the app works offline; that copy is removed when you log out or delete the app.

Your session tokens are stored in your device’s app storage and are invalidated when you log out.

No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data.

7. How long we keep it

We keep your account data, including scanned card images, for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account we erase or anonymise your personal data, except where law requires us to keep certain records longer.

8. Your rights

You may:

  • access the personal data we hold about you
  • correct it – most fields are editable in the app
  • delete your account and data – see below
  • withdraw consent by deleting your account and removing the app
  • object to or restrict certain processing
  • request a copy of your data in a portable form
  • complain to your data protection authority

To exercise any of these, email support@bigdot.ai. We respond within 30 days.

Deleting your account. You can delete your account and all associated data from within the app: open the menu from the top right of your wallet, then choose Delete account. You can also email support@bigdot.ai from the address or with the mobile number registered to your account. Deletion removes your cards, your scanned contacts, and the card images held on our servers.

9. Children

BigDot Wallet is a professional networking tool intended for adults. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact support@bigdot.ai and we will delete it.

10. Grievance Officer (India)

Under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you may contact our Grievance Officer at support@bigdot.ai.

11. Changes

We will post any changes on this page and update the “Last updated” date. Significant changes will be notified in the app.
